Upgrade of the Lathe Building of HELLENIC TRAIN S.A. in Thessaloniki

Technical Details
The project involves the upgrade of the Lathe facilities within the broader premises of the OSE Engine House property in Thessaloniki. The Lathe Building is a single-story building with a total gross floor area of 628.45 m² and a maximum height of 6.32 m.
The project encompasses:
- Modifications and adaptations to the lathe pit inside the building for the installation of modern technical equipment (underfloor wheelset lathe) as well as minor maintenance and repair works in the rest of the building.
- Upgrade of the existing railway tracks leading to the building with a total length of approx. 0.83 km, out of which 73 m is slab track
The above works are necessary to accommodate the new type of trains.
The basic design specifications include a maximum speed of 20 km/h, 54E1 rail, new turnouts and wooden and embedded reinforced concrete sleepers.
